Putting
Farmers
First.
Marlborough Farm Vets is a truly local practice built for the people who keep this region thriving. We understand the rhythms of rural life because we live them too, and we’re here to back farmers with practical expertise, straight-talking advice, and dependable support across every season. Whether you’re managing beef, dairy, sheep, deer, horses, or lifestyle blocks, our focus is simple: healthier animals, stronger farms, and a community that grows together.
Putting a face to the name.
Meet the people behind the practice. Heath and Trish bring a mix of hands-on farming experience, veterinary know-how, and genuine community care to every shed, paddock, and farm gate they visit. They’re locals who understand the landscape, the work, and the pride that drives Marlborough farmers.
Heath Dickson
Business Director & Owner - BCom, BCApSc
Heath grew up in Marlborough on a sheep, beef, and deer farm in the Wairau Valley. After high school, he went to Otago University, where he met his now wife, Josie. They lived in Auckland for 5 years before deciding to make the trip back to Marlborough and settle down. They have a 3-year-old son, Flynn, 2 Labradors, Bobby & Alfie, and a cat, Poppy. He prides himself on his product knowledge and practical recommendations, and when he isn’t working or chasing around his son and 2 dogs, he loves to get out on the hill for a hunt or hitting a golf ball around the course.
Trish Lipyeat
Owner & Farm Veterinarian - BVSc
Trish has been a vet since the 90’s in practices North, South, and West of Marlborough.
She came to Blenheim in 2008 with small children and found Marlborough too good to leave. In the years that Trish has been a vet, she has worked with dairy and beef cows, sheep, deer, horses, pigs, goats, camelids, chooks, dogs and cats. She finally decided that she wanted to concentrate on animals that you would find on the farm, so she teamed up with Heath to create Marlborough Farm Vets.
Trish has a lifestyle block in the Waihopai Valley where she and partner Derek raise and finish a few dairy beef. She also has two Labradors, two cats, chooks and a retired Welsh Pony.
When Trish isn’t being a vet, she’s quite a homebody. She enjoys walking her dogs, grooming and talking to the pony, and gardening.
